Mission Statement
About Us

Deanna Murray

I believe that in order for students to learn, they should be engaged in an enjoyable, comfortable and safe environment. I believe that physical activity and good health are crucial in enjoying an optimal quality of life. Physical education and health education will assist our students in developing an appreciation of being physically active and will also encourage healthy living. Every student should benefit from the development of motor skills, physical fitness, cognitive skills, and personal/social character training. Creating a healthy, safe, learning environment that fosters growth and enjoyment will lead to the success of all students during physical education class. Physical education should provide students with the opportunity to enhance their physical well-being and to acquire skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude that will encourage them to engage in healthy, active living throughout their lifetime.
Physical Education class is twice a week for twenty-five minutes. During the twenty-five minute class, your child will experience different sport related skills and motor skills that they will practice and develop. They will also participate in movement activities and learn locomotor skills. Your child will learn the importance of physical activity and how it affects their everyday life.
This is my eighteenth year teaching elementary physical education. I attended Royal Oak Public Schools as a child. I went to Oakland Elementary, Keller Junior High and Dondero High School.
I have two children, and two dogs. My son Colton is 12 and in seventh grade. My son Elliot is 9 and in fourth grade. Our dog’s names are Charleigh (5) and Sadie (4). We love surrounding ourselves with friends and family. I enjoy watching the boys participate in their sports and passions. We’ve been enjoying neighborhood bike rides and working in the yard.
